Big Holiday Season Summary Post

This holiday season has been really spectacular. Auntie Jeana visited at the start of the month, Sam turned 2 on the 17th, we had a birthday party on the 20th, Santa came on the 25th, and we are looking forward to a fun New Years (at home)! It has been a busy couple of weeks but lots of fun. Sam's third Xmas and Addie's first was one to remember.

Sam was so excited, he said "Hi" to the Christmas tree, or the Santas and snowmen decorating the house every 5 minutes or so all month long. And if he wasn't saying "Hi christmas tree," then he was busy pointing them out to everyone else.

He had a blast at his birthday party with his cousins (Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt and Uncle were really just taking up space) and really liked his cake (see picture below). He also got in some good present opening practice which was important for the following week.

Christmas Eve was exciting with the family at Grandma and Grandpa's house, both for the anticipation for the next morning and for the uncertainty of anyone's ability to get home. We had received about a foot of snow the previous 24 hours and were expecting more overnight. Perfect whether for Santa and Reindeer, but not so good for driving.

We did make it home, though, and with enough time to leave some cookies (which Sam helped to make) and milk out for Santa and a carrot or two for his reindeer. Then Sam went up to bed excited for the next morning. He must have been dreaming about it all night because when he woke up Christmas morning, the first two phrases he spoke were; "go downstairs, open presents" and "Santa eat cookies and milk".

Well, we went downstairs and verified that the cookies and milk were eaten (a thank you note from Santa confirmed it) and proceeded to open presents. Well, one anyway, and then Sam wanted to play with it for the next half hour. Needless to say, by the end of the NEXT day, all the presents were open and everyone was basking in post Christmas merriment.

Addie was not left in the cold this Christmas either. Santa, Mom and Dad made sure she had a special day as well. And she returned the favor by lighting up the atmosphere with smiles and smiles and smiles. The girl just won't stop! She's cute as a button, but I'm getting a little tired of smiling back all the time (not!).

All in all, it has been a great holiday season. Oh, and the best part is we took over 800 pictures! We'll be culling through that mess soon and posting a new album on the right so check back soon. However, a few instant classics are below. Happy Holidays!

Radiators were meant for sitting.

Here is Sam and Lucy making ornaments and decorations. Sam really gets into his work.

And here is Lucy with Sam, Grace and Nico making terrariums.

Long overdue introduction...

To the newest friend of Sam and Addie: James McCann Fitzpatrick - born on November 23rd! We got to meet James and congratulate Matt and Dana (James' loving parents) a week and a half ago and the entire family is doing wonderfully. Bryn Arnholt and Colton Thompson were also there. Here is the entire brood ranging from 2 weeks to nearly 2 years(you'll notice Sam's puzzlement at all the little people):

December

November was not a bad month on the blog, nor in real life. I wonder what December holds? Here's a hint - Addie turns 2 months, Sam turns 2 years!, and a little something called Christmas. Stay tuned. :)

Thanks Dad

Thanks Dad for all the things you do. For all the laughing and wrestling and cooing, for all the bedtime routines and messy dinner clean-ups and rocking to sleep, for all the dishes and laundry and diaper runs, for all the new train and car toys that mom won't buy, for the many many times you re-nuk, for all the hours you spend at work to support us, for the way you show us how a wife can be loved and supported!

Happy one-month anniversary of being a dad of two!!! You're the best dad!

Love,
Sam and Addie

New Friends

Addie and Colton (Lucy and Kevin)

Addie and Bryn

Addie update

Well, as you can see by the sparsity of blog posts, life has been busy over the last couple of weeks. But we are all doing wonderful and starting to find our rhythm. Addie will be 1 month tomorrow and I can't believe how fast the last 4 weeks have been. She continues to be a good sleeper, good eater and good screamer. Sam is adjusting well and is very curious about his sister. He's also totally into art these days - drawing, painting, chalk, etc. Lucy is recovering very well and is even getting some sleep. I'm doing well too. Now that life is starting to get back to, well, not normal, but some semblance of normalcy, I can post some pics. Enjoy.

Grandma Nana

Grandma Nana was here a couple of weeks back for a wonderful visit. Addie and Sam were in Grandma hog heaven.
